Western Area Power Administration owns and operates more than 17,000 circuit miles of transmission lines, 258 substations and other electric power facilities in its 15-state service territory. To ensure reliable electric service, this system must be maintained and periodically upgraded. Also, facilities may need to be added or expanded to meet new demands.
