WAPA’s proposes to upgrade the existing 72-mile-long Charlie Creek-Williston transmission line in McKenzie and Williams counties in North Dakota from 115 kV to 230 kV.

Fiber optic capabilities would be added to one of the overhead ground wires, and three existing substations would be expanded to accommodate new 230-kV electrical equipment.

WAPA continues to work with the U.S. Forest Service regarding realignments and access roads that cross National Forest System lands.
