LOVELAND, CO, June 22, 2023 – WAPA, in collaboration with Barnard Construction Company, announces construction supporting an upgrade to the local power infrastructure through the Estes-Flatiron Transmission Line Rebuild Project. The construction for the project, scheduled from June 23 to June 30, 2023, is a step towards mitigating wildfire hazards, installing more resilient transmission lines, reducing the environmental footprint and improving service reliability for the Town of Estes Park.

As part of this project, helicopters will operate in the vicinity of Pole Hill Road and West County Road 18E in Loveland, where they will assist in facility upgrades. Due to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations, residents are advised to remain indoors while the helicopter operations are in progress.

During construction, traffic lane closures may occur, and residents might notice increased activity from construction trucks and cranes. A combination of traffic control signs and crew members with flags will be employed to ensure safety.

The work will be carried out between 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Dates and times may change due to unforeseen issues or inclement weather.

For personal safety, residents are advised to:

  • Secure backyard umbrellas and canopies
  • Keep doors and windows closed to prevent dust intrusion
  • Be cautious with pets and horses, as helicopter noise can be bothersome

The safety of residents, our workforce, and the public remains our top priority during this construction activity. We urge residents not to approach crew members during their operations.

While we anticipate some disruptions, we assure residents that every effort will be made to minimize potential impacts during the construction activities. We thank the community for their patience during this important project.
