LAKEWOOD, Colo. – Erin Green, an attorney with the Western Area Power Administration, has been named the organization’s new Chief of Staff.

Green assumes the position November 18. Notably, Green previously served as WAPA’s Chief of Staff for seven years where she provided one-on-one guidance and support to WAPA’s Administrator and CEO and led complex organizational assessments involving teams across WAPA’s 15-state territory.

Prior to assuming the position, Green served as the lender counsel’s attorney-advisor as part of WAPA’s Transmission Infrastructure Program, a $3.25 billion loan program for electric transmission infrastructure development.

“We are excited for Erin to join us in this critical position,” Administrator and CEO Tracey A. LeBeau said. “Her previous familiarity as Chief of Staff, as well as involvement in our TIP program, makes her perfectly suited to support and advocate on WAPA’s evolving priorities, especially those in transmission investments. She will serve as an advisor and support our executive team, provide counsel and advice to our senior leaders as well as shape WAPA’s strategic direction as we continue to focus on our core mission of providing reliable, cost-effective hydropower to hundreds of customer utilities throughout the West.”

As Chief of Staff, Green manages the administrative and advisory functions of the office, liaises with customers, staff and partners, and plans and executes meetings for WAPA’s leadership teams. Additionally, she works to ensure WAPA’s Senior Leadership and Senior Executive Teams align with strategic leadership goals.

“I am honored and excited to be selected once again to work with WAPA’s senior and extended teams,” Green said. “As I return to the Chief of Staff position, I’m looking forward to leveraging my background as WAPA’s TIP program counsel as our senior team considers the future infrastructure needs for both WAPA and our nation. This is an exciting time for both WAPA and our dedicated workforce.”

Green’s work as Chief of Staff will allow for coordinated and constructive briefings in conjunction with other Department of Energy agencies, ensuring WAPA priorities and activities are understood at the highest levels of government.

Green received her law degree from the University of Colorado School of Law in 2009 after earning a bachelor’s degree in environmental science from Regis University in 2003, where she graduated magna cum laude. In 2015 she also earned an associate’s degree in electrical transmission system technology from Bismarck State College. She is licensed to practice law in Colorado.

Green succeeds Chris Lawrence who served both as WAPA’s acting and official Chief of Staff since January 2023.
