LAKEWOOD, Colo. – Tina Ko has been named executive vice president and chief operating officer at Western Area Power Administration.
She has been acting in the position since March and will assume the permanent role in early November upon final approval by the Department of Energy Office of Corporate Executive Management.
“Tina’s vast and diverse experience in the industry and specifically in federal power and transmission marketing is precisely what we need right now,” said WAPA Administrator and CEO Tracey LeBeau. “Her ability to partner and implement solutions will help us to navigate some of the most pressing issues we face in the industry today. She is that rare leader who is both a thinker and a doer.”
As Executive VP, Ko will lead and oversee a broad scope of day-to-day operations and spearhead strategic enterprise initiatives, including policies and processes related to engineering and design, energy marketing and markets, transmission asset management and planning, aviation, technical training, safety, security and related matters. She reports to LeBeau.
Ko came to WAPA as a senior executive leader seasoned in enterprise management, with prior experience as a deputy COO and a breadth of know-how across core federal and utility business functions.
“It has been an honor to join the WAPA community, to live the core values with you and learn the issues that are unique and important to this part of the country,” said Ko. “I am excited to continue the journey and look forward to partnering further with this senior leadership team and our customers on securing a resilient energy future.”
Ko brings 22 years of experience from Bonneville Power Administration across generation, transmission and corporate services where she pioneered new programs, led customer negotiations and increased employee engagement. Most recently she served in an executive capacity as vice president of transmission marketing and sales for four years.
Ko earned a Master of Business Administration in finance and a bachelor’s in economics from Willamette University.
