LAKEWOOD, Colo. – Western Area Power Administration recently unveiled its new strategic plan, Power Forward 2030. The plan establishes three overarching strategic goals that define the organization’s trajectory for the next seven years: to safeguard a sustainable energy future, modernize the grid and invest in our employees. Thirteen strategic objectives outline how WAPA will achieve these goals through various improvements and initiatives that address four critical aspects of our business – customer service, people and culture, resource stewardship and internal processes.
“Our new WAPA strategic plan continues to build momentum toward a secure and prosperous energy future, while navigating the winds of change,” said Administrator and CEO Tracey A. LeBeau. “WAPA’s operating environment will continue to present emerging challenges and opportunities, and Power Forward 2030 provides a foundational framework to support WAPA’s adaptation and resilience to continue to excel in the changing environment. It reaffirms WAPA’s mission through a keen focus on the value we provide as a critical source of clean energy and reliable transmission, a strategic partner and an employer of a dedicated and talented workforce.”
In following WAPA’s core value to “Seek, share and partner,” WAPA engaged employees, customers and stakeholders throughout strategy formulation. Kicking off our strategic planning effort, WAPA confirmed its steadfast mission to safely provide reliable, cost-based hydropower and transmission to our customers and the communities we serve. The organization also developed a new, aspirational vision statement: Empowering communities, securing a resilient energy future.
WAPA’s internal and external communities contributed to the inclusive and successful strategic planning process. WAPA sought customer input on emerging issues, shared challenges and future opportunities, all of which informed its strategic priorities. Employees and external stakeholders engaged in Let’s Talk Strategy sessions to confirm that the strategic plan was on the right track, and senior leadership across WAPA collaborated extensively throughout the effort.
Power Forward 2030 defines WAPA’s top priorities and launches action to achieve our intended results. Learn more about the plan’s strategic goals and objectives and view the Power Forward 2030 document.
