PAY AND BENEFITS

WAPA OPERATES UNDER THREE DIFFERENT PAY SYSTEMS.

  • General Schedule – The GS pay system covers the majority of our professional, technical, administrative and clerical Federal workforce.
  • Wage Board – A negotiated pay-setting system that covers craft, trade and labor employees who are paid hourly.
  • Administratively Determined – Covered under the Dispatcher Pay Plan, which sets fixed rates to cover dispatcher and merchant employees.

WAPA-UNIQUE BENEFITS

Eye and physical fitness reimbursement

Eye and physical exam reimbursement, Eye and physical exam reimbursement – Some employees may be partially reimbursed for these exam services if they are not covered by your health insurance plan.

Fitness facilities and reimbursement – Many of WAPA’s duty locations offer onsite fitness facilities. For employees who chose to belong to a commercial fitness facility, WAPA will reimburse 50 percent of a single membership, up to $500 annually.

Employeed assistance program Employee Assistance Program – A confidential counseling and referral program for employees and their family members.​​
Pre-retirement planning Pre-retirement planning – WAPA offers planning seminars for employees and their spouses (or other interested parties) that are within five years of retirement.​
Tuition and student loan programs

Tuition assistance/reimbursement – In an effort to enhance job performance and to encourage self-development of employees through independent study, WAPA employees may be eligible to participate in the Tuition Assistance Program or Tuition Reimbursement Program. These programs aim to improve workforce performance related to the mission and strategic objective of WAPA.​

Student Loan Repayment Program – WAPA has the flexibility to repay Federally insured student loans as a recruitment or retention incentive for candidates or current employees. Approval for student loan repayment is based on management discretion and funding availability.

Transporation subsidy Transportation subsidy – Employees who use public transportation services to get to work may be reimbursed up to $245.00/month.
Family friendly workplace

Family friendly workplace – In an effort to ensure our employees have a positive work-life balance, while successfully performing their work duties, WAPA has implemented various family friendly workplace programs such as:

  • Telecommuting – A work option, pending supervisory approval, which may allow you to work from home.
  • Flexible and Alternative Work Schedules – Flexible work arrangements which allow employees to vary work hours within a pay period based on personal and organizational requirements. WAPA has established core hours in which employees should be at work, unless otherwise approved by a supervisor.

Annual leave and Federal holidays

Annual leave – The Federal government offers employees very competitive annual leave accrual rates. For accrual rate information visit the Office of Personnel Management’s Annual Leave web page.

Federal holidays – As a full-time Federal employee, you are eligible to receive 10 paid Federal holidays per year. For more information, see OPM’s Operating Status and Schedules.

Thrift Savings plan Thrift Savings Plan – If you contribute to the TSP, the government will automatically contribute one percent of your salary and match up to five percent of your salary. For more information, visit TSP’s website.
Flex spending accounts Flexible Spending Accounts – As a WAPA ​employee, you may be eligible to participate in the Federal Flexible Spending Account program, known as FSAFEDS. This program offers three different Flexible Spending Accounts: a health care FSA, a limited expense healthcare FSA and a dependent care FSA.
