CVP Rate Case process update
Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) Sierra Nevada (SN) Region plans to file a 5-year formula rate under Rate Order No. WAPA-207 for the Central Valley Project (CVP) power, transmission, and ancillary services; and the California-Oregon Transmission Project (COTP) transmission through September 30, 2029, which is unchanged from the existing formula rates in the current rate schedules that expire on September 30, 2024, and December 31, 2024. WAPA-SN will conduct a separate rate case for the Pacific Alternating Current Intertie (PACI) rate schedule due to the expiration of the Transmission Exchange Agreement (TEA) on December 31, 2024.
We are proposing to conduct a rate process from September 2022 through August 2023, to set rates into effect October 1, 2024, through September 30, 2029.
WAPA-SN will start the process with a series of informal customer meetings beginning in September 2022. During the informal process, customers will have the opportunity to ask questions and provide comments and feedback that will be taken into consideration before the rates are finalized. After completing the informal process, by June 2023, WAPA-SN will start the formal process by publishing a notice of Proposed Rate Adjustment in the Federal Register and allow for a 90-day comment period.
