Central Valley Project (CVP) Rate Case Process Update

Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) Sierra Nevada (SN) Region filed a 5-year formula rate under Rate Order No. WAPA-207 for the Central Valley Project (CVP) power, transmission, and ancillary services; and the California-Oregon Transmission Project (COTP) transmission through September 30, 2029, which is unchanged from the existing formula rates in the current rate schedules that expire on September 30, 2024, and December 31, 2024. WAPA-SN is conducting a separate rate case (WAPA-211) for the Pacific Alternating Current Intertie (PACI) rate schedule due to the expiration of the Transmission Exchange Agreement (TEA) on December 31, 2024.

Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) Sierra Nevada (SN) Region plans to file new formula rate schedules for the Central Valley Project (CVP) and the California-Oregon Transmission Project (COTP) under Rate Order No. WAPA-207.This meeting is the first of several informal meetings that will be held prior to the formal public rate process. WAPA-SN plans to discuss the following items:

  • Existing CVP and COTP rate schedules and why the need for a public rate process
  • What to expect during the rate process Regional overview including project descriptions, project background and marketing plans
  • Any additional comments and questions from customer
