Pacific Alternating Current Intertie (PACI) Rate Case process update

Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) Sierra Nevada (SN) Region plans to file 5-year formula rates under Rate Order No. WAPA-211 for the PACI Point-to-Point (PTP) transmission service.

WAPA-SN is proposing to conduct a major rate process from September 2024 through August 2025, to set rates into effect October 1, 2025, through September 30, 2030.

WAPA-SN will start the process with an informal customer meeting tentatively in October 2024. During the informal process, customers will have the opportunity to ask questions, and provide comments and feedback that will be taken into consideration before the rates are finalized. After completing the informal process, by December 2024, WAPA-SN will start the formal process by publishing a notice of Proposed Rate Adjustment in the Federal Register and allow for a 90-day comment period.
