EAST SIDE PEAKING PROJECT
Basin Electric Power Cooperative is proposing to build an 80- to 100-MW, simple-cycle gas turbine in Brown and Deuel counties, near Groton, S.D., and interconnect it to Western’s Groton Substation.
The Environmental Assessment evaluated two alternatives. One site is approximately 5 miles south of Groton and the other is approximately 27 miles southeast of Watertown, S.D. Depending on the site selected, associated facilities could include a gas pipeline, water pipeline and electric transmission facilities.
Western is cooperating with the Rural Utilities Service.
