Project History

  • Sept. 2012 – ED5-to-Thornton Road Line Construction Contract Awarded; and ED5 Substation Instrument Transformer materials contract awarded.
  • Aug. 2012 – ED5 and Test Track substations contract for 230kV breakers awarded
  • July 2012 – ED5 Substation contract for a 230/115kV transformer awarded
  • Nov. 2011 – First draw of Treasury funds for project
  • Sept. 2011 – Western Administrator certifies project
  • Sept. 2011 – DOE concurs on project
  • Sept. 2011 – OBM apportionment approved
  • Aug. 2011 – A FONSI (finding of no significant impact) certified
  • July 2011 – Final Environmental Assessment published
  • May 2011 – Draft Environmental Assessment published
  • Mar. 2011 – Public Open House held for Environmental Assessment
  • Feb. 2011 – ED4 signs 50-year Transmission Service Agreement for 156 megawatts on new line west to east
  • Dec. 2010 – Environmental Assessment process begins
  • July 2010 – Statement of Interest for long-term purchase of proposed line’s capacity
  • May 2010 – ED5-PVH proposal received from SPPR Group
