WAPA, on behalf of the Department of Energy, will solicit proposals for a long-term renewable energy contract or contracts for up to 50 megawatts of energy located in the California Independent System Operator territory.
The contracts will serve various DOE loads in California starting no later than December 31, 2024 and extending 20 years.
DOE requested WAPA establish renewable energy supply contracts with a third party or parties that are economic and feasible and support price stability, energy resiliency and future cost savings. WAPA performs power marketing services for DOE under an Interagency Agreement.
During the solicitation period, WAPA will request bids that meet Green Energy definitions and qualifications per California Renewable Portfolio Standard Public Utilities Code Section 399.16. Using the flexibility allowed under WAPA’s power marketing authority, the contract will be awarded for the best overall value to the federal agencies while meeting the terms of the solicitation.
WAPA expects to announce the request for bids by the end of July 2019.
