Flaming Gorge Dam operation

The Bureau of Reclamation is preparing an Environmental Impact Statement on the operation of the Flaming Gorge Dam, Utah.

The EIS will describe the effects of operating Flaming Gorge Dam to comply with Section 7 of the Endangered Species Act and to achieve the flows recommended by the Recovery Implementation Program for Endangered Fish Species in the Upper Colorado River Basin. The action's purpose is to protect and assist the recovery of four endangered fishes and their designated critical habitat in the Green and Colorado River basins—the razorback sucker, Colorado pikeminnow, humpback chub and bonytail chub.

Western Area Power Administration​ is cooperating in the EIS process.
