Casey named WAPA's Power Marketing Advisor

​LAKEWOOD, Colo. — Penny Casey has been named Power Marketing Advisor at Western Area Power Administration by Administrator and CEO Mark Gabriel. As Power Marketing Advisor, Casey will work closely with WAPA’s regions in areas of policy and advise the Administrator on the broad Power Marketing functions delegated to Western.

Gabriel said, "Penny’s leadership, extensive experience in power marketing and her can-do attitude will help WAPA in our continuing interaction with the ever-changing world of power markets."

Casey takes over the role from Ron Moulton who was named Senior Vice President and Desert Southwest Regional Manager. In her previous position, Casey served as the Desert Southwest’s Energy Management and Marketing Office Manager since 2007, where she managed the merchant activity for the Parker-Davis, Boulder Canyon and Navajo projects. The EMMO also provides portfolio management services to 18 preference power customers with a total annual portfolio cost of $82M.

Casey joined WAPA in 1998 as a public utilities specialist, working in prescheduling and after-the fact checkout. In 2002, she became the Desert Southwest Region’s Power Marketing Resources Supervisor. Casey began her Federal career in 1982 with the U.S. Army and prior to coming to work for WAPA, she was part of the Defense Fuels Supply Center, Natural Gas Division in Fort Belvoir, Virginia.
