Jack Murray is Senior Vice President and Desert Southwest Regional Manager of the Western Area Power Administration.
As the DSW manager located in Phoenix, Arizona, Murray leads more than 220 federal employees and 130 contractors in marketing and delivering renewable, reliable and cost-based federal hydroelectric power and related services to nearly 70 municipalities, electric cooperatives, federal and state agencies, irrigation districts and Native American tribes in the southwestern United States. DSW operates more than 40 substations and 3,100 miles of extrahigh voltage transmission lines. The power marketed by DSW is generated at Bureau of Reclamation dams including Hoover, Parker and Davis along the Colorado River.
Murray has more than 20 years of energy industry experience, specifically at WAPA’s DSW region. He joined WAPA in 1999 as a financial analyst at DSW. Murray cultivated his knowledge and experience and moved to rates manager, Vice President of Power Marketing and VP of Transmission System Asset Management. Between 2020 and 2022, he served as acting Senior Vice President and Regional Manager for Rocky Mountain and DSW. Before joining WAPA, Murray served several years in the banking industry and the Small Business Administration in Seattle, Washington.
Murray holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and Finance from the University of Washington.
