Utilities, developers, governments, Tribes and others interested in renewable energy for the Southwest region participated in the Opening Transmission Constraints for Solar Development Locally and in the West (pdf), June 17.

Attendees learned about opportunities in the Solar Technologies Program, about Western’s unique borrowing authority for transmission infrastructure granted in the Recovery Act, about transmission opportunities that are developing that could benefit solar development and heard about the large-scale solar developer perspectives. Participants also engaged in an open dialogue about next steps.

TransWest Express LLC Enters Into Agreement with Western Area Power Administration

March 4, 2010 – Taking another major step forward to advance the development of new transmission in the West, TransWest Express LLC has entered into a non-binding agreement with the Western Area Power Administration to potentially acquire a 50 percent equity stake in the TransWest Express Transmission Project.
