Tom Boyko selected to lead California team
LAKEWOOD, Colo.—A long-time Western manager was named today to head up the agency's Sierra Nevada Region.
Tom Boyko brings a wealth of experience in power marketing, maintenance and construction to the Sierra Nevada regional manager's office, gained in several challenging assignments in two Western regions, noted Western's Administrator Tim Meeks. Boyko served as project manager, planning, coordinating and directing the construction of the Path 15 transmission addition.
Currently Power Marketing Manager in the Sierra Nevada Region, he previously served as SN's Maintenance Manager and as the Montana Maintenance Manager in Western's Upper Great Plains Region. Boyko joined Western in 1986 as a construction field engineer in Bismarck, N.D. He also served in Huron, S.D., and Fort Peck, Mont., in progressively more responsible positions before moving to the Sierra Nevada Region in 1998 as Maintenance Manager.
Boyko holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from North Dakota State University and completed additional studies in engineering management at the University of Colorado.
He will lead more than 150 Federal employees and 50 contractors in marketing and delivering reliable, cost-based Federal hydropower to millions of consumers in northern and central California. SN regional staff also operate and maintain a network of 855 miles of high-voltage transmission lines ranging from 69 to 500 kV.
