LAKEWOOD, Colo.-Western’s Administrator Tim
Meeks announced today the selection of Anthony Montoya
as the agency’s new chief operations officer.
Montoya currently is the Assistant Regional Manager
for Power System Operations for Western’s Desert
Southwest Region in Phoenix. He previously managed
the Power Marketing, Engineering and Construction
and Engineering organizations in Western’s
Desert Southwest Region. He began his Western career
in 1982 as an engineer at the then Headquarters Office
in Golden, Colo.
Montoya has served Western in a large number of
electric utility industry forums and is a graduate
of Western’s Management Development Program.
His leadership skills were recognized by the Phoenix
Federal Executive Association with the award of the
2006 Outstanding Administrator of the Year.
Montoya’s educational background includes a
doctorate in public administration from Arizona State
University and both master’s and bachelor’s
degrees in engineering from University of Colorado
and Colorado School of Mines, respectively. He takes
over his new duties May 13.
