REGISTER NOW FOR JANUARY WIND INTERCONNECTION WORKSHOP

Consumer-owned utility representatives with questions about integrating the world's fastest-growing form of generation into their power mix can get answers at the Wind Interconnection Workshop Jan. 24 and 25.

The two-day event will be held at Western Area Power Administration's Electric Power Training Center in Golden, Colo. Western is presenting the workshop in cooperation with DOE's Wind Powering America Program, National Rural Electric Cooperative Association and American Public Power Association, among others.

Participants will get an overview of wind energy, followed by an introduction to the Utility Wind Integration Group’s new Internet-based tools program, designed to assess a distributed wind project’s impact on the local distribution system. Speakers will include EPTC instructors, who will offer tours of the center. A demonstration of EPTC's hands-on Wind Power Simulator Integration Training Program, the first tool of its kind, is also on the workshop agenda.

Registration fee is $200.  Continuing education credit is available for this workshop. Participation is limited to the first 30 registrants, with electric cooperative and public power personnel receiving preference, so reserve your place today. Additional information on the event is available at the Public Renewables Partnership Web site.

Western Area Power Administration annually markets and transmits more than 10,000 megawatts of power from hydroelectric powerplants owned and operated by the Bureau of Reclamation and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 15 western and central states.  It is part of the Department of Energy.
