Stevens High School wins South Dakota Science Bowl
Huron, S.D.Rapid City Stevens High School won the 10th Annual South Dakota Science Bowl Saturday at SiTanka/Huron University, earning the opportunity to compete at the U.S. Department of Energy's National Science Bowl in Washington, D.C., May 1-5.
Since the program began in 1991, the National event has brought together more than 60,000 high school mathematics and science students from across the country. The contest tests knowledge in astronomy, biology, chemistry, math, physics, earth, computer and general science.
Rapid City Christian High School placed second, West Central High School placed third and Rapid City Central High School placed fourth. Thirty-two teams from 27 high schools competed in this year's event.
Members of the Stevens team are: Andrew Bockover, A. Gideon Oakes, Luke Pendo, Andrew Thomas. They are coached by Barb Gulk.
