Phoenix—High school students from across the state will match wits Mar. 1, at Glendale Community College, High Tech Annex building starting at 9 a.m. Quarter and semi-finals will start around 2:30 p.m. in the Math Auditorium. The final round to determine the winner should begin about 3:30 p.m. The awards ceremony will be held in the student union building immediately following the final round.
Twenty-eight teams from 13 schools will vie for top honors in the 9th annual double elimination competition. Competing teams will answer questions in astronomy, biology, chemistry, earth science, mathematics and physics.

The winning team will represent Arizona in an all-expense paid trip
to the Department of Energy’s National Science Bowl, May 1 to 5 in Washington,
D.C. Mountain View High School from Mesa won last year’s Arizona competition.
Supported by sponsoring businesses, the regional competition brings
together the best and brightest math and science students from across the
state for a day of fun-filled competition, explained Arizona Regional Science
Bowl Coordinator Dennis Schaefer.
“It is encouraging to see the many volunteers from various companies and organizations train to moderate, judge and keep time and score to ensure the event's success,” Schaefer said.
