Public Meetings Scheduled on Draft Voltage Environmental Impact Statement

FOLSOM, Calif.--A draft document that evaluates the potential environmental impacts of alternatives to improve electric system reliability and voltage support for the Sacramento area is now available for public review.

Three public meetings are also scheduled on the Draft Sacramento Area Voltage Support Environmental Impact Statement:

The Draft EIS describes the proposed action, three action alternatives and a no-action alternative developed by Western Area Power Administration. The proposed action consists of installing new conductors (wires) on Western’s existing transmission line between substations at Elverta and Tracy, constructing 26.6 miles of new transmission line from O’Banion Substation near Marysville to Elverta Substation, and realigning a portion of the existing Cottonwood-Roseville transmission line. The other action alternatives include different combinations of new construction and installing new conductors on existing transmission lines.

Comments on the draft EIS will be accepted until Dec. 30.
