Huron, SD -- For the third year in a row a Huron High School Team has won the annual South Dakota Regional Science Bowl held Saturday, Feb. 10, 2001 at Huron University.
The team will receive a trip to compete in the U.S. Department of Energy National Science Bowl Tournament May 4-7, 2001, in Chevy Chase, Maryland.
The contest tests knowledge in astronomy, biology, chemistry, math, physics, earth, computer, and general science.
Eureka High School placed second, West Central High School third and Ipswich High School fourth.
Due to poor road conditions and adverse weather, 22 teams from 18 South Dakota schools competed at this year's event (32 teams were registered for the event).
Members of the Huron Team 1 included: Nathanael Dixon, David Farrar, Ben Nesson, Dani Johannesen, & Bob Vaselaar.
Their coach is MaryLou McGirr.
