Western honors exceptional employees

GOLDEN, Colo.- Western Area Power Administration paid tribute to some of its finest employees when Administrator Mike Hacskaylo announced the names of this year's Exceptional Service awards recipients. Those recognized through Western's highest award include John Dake, public utilities specialist in Phoenix, Jack Dodd, deputy assistant administrator in Washington D.C.; Howard Hirahara, administrative officer in Folsom, Calif.; Larry Shiao, hydralic engineer in Loveland, Colo.; and Leona Ward, CFO administrative assistant in Golden, Colo

These individuals were selected because they:

· are recognized as experts in their fields

· consistently go above and beyond what is normally expected on a long-term basis.

· performed additional assignments such as dedicated participation on committees or task forces

· involve themselves in outside activities that reflect favorably on Western

· help accomplish the goals of Western's Strategic Plan.

In addition, each has been with Western for more than five years.

"The Exceptional Service Awards are a positive way to recognize some of our most valued employees. They are symbols of what we as agency have accomplished and the great things will achieve together in the future," noted Hasckaylo.

Western Area Power Administration annually markets and transmits more than 10,000 megawatts of power from hydroelectric powerplants owned and operated by the Bureau of Reclamation and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 15 central and western states.
