Western employee honored

GOLDEN, Colo.—Dorothy Meyer, a senior budget analyst at Western Area Power Administration in Golden was selected as one of five employees to receive the agency's 1998 Exceptional Service Award. She was presented with the award at special ceremonies today in Golden.

Given annually, the award is based on outstanding overall service, improving departmental goals, accomplishing responsibilities in an exemplary manner, showing unusual initiative, demonstrating outstanding executive or technical ability and displaying unusual devotion to duty.

Meyer, who has worked at Western since 1977, has distinguished herself as an employee who regularly "goes above and beyond the call of duty." Among her many contributions in the Office of the Chief Financial Officer, she prepares budgets, authors budget call letters and responds quickly to customers' questions and needs. She exhibits excellent customer service skills and provides leadership.

Michael S. Hacskaylo, Western's administrator who presented the award to Meyer, said, "It is a pleasure to recognize outstanding employees whose contributions to their work environment help Western meet its mission and goals. We honor Dorothy Meyer for her commitment to duty, team spirit, initiative and vision—qualities that create an atmosphere of pride and goodwill throughout our organization."

Meyer said she appreciates the award and is pleased with many on-the-job opportunities to grow professionally and work with friends at Western.

A resident of Golden, Meyer and her husband, Mark, have two grown daughters and three granddaughters.

Western Area Power Administration is part of the U.S.Department of Energy. It annually markets and transmits more than 10,000 megawatts of power from hydroelectric powerplants owned and operated by the Bureau of Reclamation and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 15 central and western states.
