Washington Liaison Post Filled

WASHINGTON--The Power Marketing Liaison post in Washington, D.C. has been filled with the appointment of Tim Meeks, maintenance manager for Western Area Power Administration's Sierra Nevada Region, in Folsom, Calif. In this role, Meeks will represent the Southeastern, Southwestern and Western Area Power Marketing Administrations with the Department of Energy, and coordinate PMA activities with other agencies and industry groups. He replaces Joel Bladow, who was recently selected for Western's Rocky Mountain regional manager position in Loveland, Colo.

The three power marketing administrations, operating over a 27-state area, market the power produced at Federal power facilities to power customers, including rural electric cooperatives, municipalities, and Federal and State agencies. Annual sales for the three PMAs are in excess of 60 billion kilowatt-hours with associated revenues of more than $1.2 billion. The three PMAs, Southeastern, Southwestern, and Western Area, are based in Elberton, Ga., Tulsa, Okla., and Golden, Colo., respectively.

Meeks began his federal career in 1982, and has held a variety of successively more responsible positions with Western, in the field and at headquarters, dealing with communications, transmission line and substation maintenance. A California native and Registered Professional Engineer, Meeks holds a bachelors' degree in electrical engineering and a masters' in engineering management. He and his wife, Tena, have two sons.
