T CRAIG KNOELL -- biographical sketch

Craig Knoell, TIP managerLeaving his job in Western’s Rocky Mountain Region, Knoell took the lead role as the Transmission Infrastructure Program manager on Sept. 13, 2009.

As program manager for various transmission and operations facility improvements, Knoell had oversight of implementation for several projects and consolidating operations throughout Western’s Rocky Mountain and Desert Southwest Regional Offices.

Before becoming a program manager, Knoell was Western’s Rocky Mountain Region’s Federal Power Programs Manager. Working in a four-state region, he was responsible for managing power marketing, rates, settlements, contracts and energy services.

Knoell started his career with Western in Montrose, Colo. as an engineer with the former Salt Lake City Area Construction Office. He was instrumental in the initial development of the Field Engineering Branch in Western’s Headquarters Construction Division, ultimately taking the lead role as Branch Chief.  His responsibilities shifted to project management of Western’s Transformation Reengineering and moving to Lincoln, Neb. to serve as a Field Representative for Power Marketing in the Upper Great Plains Region. He then ventured back to the Rocky Mountain Office in Loveland, Colo., to manage the Facility Engineering and Construction Office.

Over the past 28 years Knoell’s experience includes various Federal agencies including the Forest Service and Bureau of Reclamation following 3 years as a project manager with Texaco, Inc., for petrochemical infrastructure construction. He’s a licensed engineer in the State of Utah, has a master’s degree in engineering management from the University of Colorado, Boulder and a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from the University of Nebraska.
