Equipment Loan program seeks new tools

One of Western’s most popular Energy Services programs is about to get better, with a little help from our customers. The Equipment Loan program, which allows Western customers to “test-drive” technical diagnostic tools and education kits, is looking for new technologies to add to its library.

Since the best way to make a program more useful is to ask the people who use it what they need, Western is asking its customers to submit suggestions for new equipment. Have you heard about a new tool that could increase your operation’s efficiency or help your consumers cut their energy costs? Tell us about it. Or, maybe you would like the program to add more units of an in-demand technology, like our popular infrared cameras. Whether it’s the cutting edge or the tried-and-true, we want to know what you need.

It only takes a minute to share your ideas. Use the on-line Equipment Request Form, and enter your suggestion in the “Comments” field. You can also call the Equipment Loan program manager with your requests at 720-962-7420.

Energy Services and customer representatives will evaluate all suggestions. We will add new equipment as the budget allows. Watch the Energy Services Web site and future issues of the Energy Services Bulletin for announcements about availability.

Any Western customer who buys firm capacity directly or indirectly is eligible to use the Equipment Loan program. Utilities may borrow infrared cameras, demand analyzers and power quality monitors to track their own and their customers' energy use. Anemometer kits for measuring potential wind generation and technology demonstration kits are also available through the program.

Loan lengths vary according to availability, demand, and equipment type and long-term loans can be arranged for joint action agencies and special customer programs. Loans are made on a first-come, first-served basis. Requesting equipment well in advance improves your chances of getting exactly what you want, when you want it.
