Equipment Loan Program adds fuel cell kits

Western has added two fuel cell kits to its equipment loan program inventory, and they are available now.

Fuel Cell model PEMpower 1-Eco
Fuel Cell model PEMPower 1-Eco demononstrates the concept of using solar energy to manufacture hydrogen which is then used in a fuel cell to produce clean electric power.

Each fuel cell kit demonstrates the simple operation of a hydrogen fuel cell and is a great visual aid in explaining how fuel cells work. The kit is a model of a complete energy supply system and illustrates how the individual components of hydrogen technology work.

It also shows how these components fit into the larger picture of a hydrogen technology-based energy supply system. This model was designed for classroom instruction.

The energy industry is considering fuel cell technology because of environmental impacts associated with fossil fuels, an increasing demand for energy, diminishing resources, and national security issues. Hydrogen technology offers solutions to some of these concerns. It is important to educate our children about hydrogen technologies because their lives will be impacted by its development.

The automobile industry has committed to developing hydrogen-powered vehicles by the year 2004, and fuel cells are being used in various applications today. By promoting this technology, the best mix of energy resources can be applied for each individual customer. It is another example of making the most of the resources available with the best interest of the environment, the customer, and national security in mind.
