Western offers handy public awareness tools
Western's Corporate Communications office has tools to help you educate customers about the dangers of high-voltage transmission lines.
"Living and Working Around High-voltage Power Lines" is a pamphlet featuring safety notes on using power line rights-of-way, working around irrigation systems, underground pipes and cables, wire fences, trees, and logging. It also provides safety guidelines to avoid potential accidents associated with the dangers of high-voltage lines.
Western also has a color safety poster available showing minimum clearances between conductors and danger trees.
The new poster has been well-received. One satisfied customer said, "The message conveyed on the posters is right on target. I think they are going to be very effective in warning people that trees and power lines do not mix." The posters can be customized with local utility contact information.
To order pamphlets or posters, e-mail storie@wapa.gov.
