Wanted: Renewable resource suppliers for Federal green power customers

Western's Colorado River Storage Project Management Center seeks potential sources and prices of non-hydro renewable electric power to serve Federal installations in New Mexico.

Western issued a Request for Information on options to supply 54 GWh of solar, geothermal, biomass and/or wind-generated energy to Sandia National Laboratory and Kirtland Air Force Base, near Albuquerque, and Los Alamos National Laboratory, in Los Alamos. The renewable energy is to be delivered to Public Service Company of New Mexico for redelivery to the Federal facilities. SNL/KAFB require 26 GWh. The Los Alamos facilities have requested approximately 28 GWh of renewable energy.

Renewable energy providers may supply all or part of the 54 GWh requirement. Power purchases would be for a five- or possibly 10-year period. The deadline for responses is 5 p.m., Sept. 12. For more information, e-mail or call CRSP MC General Engineer Sam Loftin at 801-524-6381.
